Victims Support Specialist

We work in a dynamic team-based approach and drive to get things done.  We are currently looking for an experienced Victims Support Analyst to join the  team and contribute to our work.

The Internal Grievances function in PPG focuses on enabling an efficient, progressive, fair, diligent and transparent management of personnel (internal grievances and) relations. The Internal Grievances team is responsible for independently handling complex grievances cases and improving organizational maturity in the area of internal grievances management. 

The Victims support Specialist will work under the overall supervision of the HR Advisor - Internal Grievances in Copenhagen, Headquarters, and provide support to alleged victims of workplace misconduct (harassment, discrimination, abuse of authority, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation and abuse). Specifically they will:

• Provide referrals to wellbeing, psychosocial, and social services as appropriate and required. 

• Independently handle relationships with alleged victims of workplace misconduct once the allegations have been reported within UNOPS’ internal justice system and have been referred to the Victims support Specialistt.

• Liaise between alleged victims and UNOPS internal justice actors (Internal Audits and Investigations Group, Ethics Group, People and Performance Group, Legal Group etc) and provide independent guidance to the alleged victim.

• Assist alleged victims to keep them informed about the status of their reported allegations, explain and answer questions about the UNOPS internal justice system and procedures while maintaining due process and confidentiality.

• Keep abreast of and advise on victim-centered approaches throughout the internal justice process and participate in the development of operational procedures and policies related to victim-centered approaches.

• Provide guidance to the internal justice system actors to ensure the implementation of gender- sensitive approaches and respect for victim’s rights during the internal justice process, including the protection measures in consultation with other United Nations entities responsible for providing assistance and support to victims.

• Develop and deliver training or contribution to existing offerings and policies ongrievance related matters and a victim centered approach.

• Independently contribute to knowledge sharing and relevant data analytics by managing a case database and preparing reports as required.

• Independently support regional and country offices and UN internal victims' groups and/or relevant entities that can provide individualized support and assistance to victims as relevant.

• Maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information and maintain data for internal use regarding services and referrals provided to victims.

• Independently manage grievance cases and other grievances related tasks assigned by the HR Advisor - Internal Grievances.

• Advanced University degree in related fields such as human resources, law, social justice, human rights, behavior sciences, psychology, social sciences, etc.
• Or a First University degree in related fields combined with 7 years of relevant experience. 

• A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in one or several areas such as criminal justice, social work, child protection, gender-based violence, human rights or related field.
• Experience in international development and/or humanitarian aid, or working for the UN and/or an NGO is an asset.
• Experience in handling sensitive issues, including by maintaining confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information.
