The incumbent will be responsible for developing a visually appealing, professional, and consistent design and layout for a United Nations report that effectively communicates complex information to a diverse audience.
The incumbent will perform the following duties:

Design Concept Development:

Understanding the task: Read through the task description and the marking rubric.

Identify and consider factors such as target audience, key messages, and the overall tone of the report.

Create a design concept that aligns with UN branding guidelines and the report's specific content.

Develop a color palette, typography, and visual elements that are visually appealing and professional.

Layout and Structure:

Choose the right size for the report design taking into account aesthetic appeal, the cost of printing, and the reader’s experience.

Design and layout the report's structure, including the title page, table of contents, executive summary, main body, and references.

Ensure a clear and logical flow of information.
-
Utilize appropriate page numbering and headers/footers.

Information Graphics :

Create or incorporate relevant information graphics (e.g., charts, graphs, diagrams) to enhance understanding and engagement.

Ensure that graphics are visually appealing, accurate, and consistent with the overall design.

Image Selection and Placement:

If required, select appropriate images that complement the report's content and enhance its visual appeal.

Ensure proper image licensing and attribution.
-
For images provided by the client, evaluate image quality as related to the final deliverable.

Place images strategically within the layout to maintain visual balance and readability.

Formatting and Style:

Apply consistent formatting throughout the report, including font styles, sizes, spacing, and margins.

Create a font style guide to establish a clear hierarchy of titles and subtitles, ensuring that users can easily understand the structure of the report and follow the narrative flow.

Ensure compliance with UN style guidelines and any specific formatting requirements.

Prepress:

Prepare the final report for printing or digital distribution.

Ensure that the files are in the correct format and resolution for the intended output.

Check for color consistency, image quality, and overall print readiness.

Handle any necessary prepress tasks, such as trapping, imposition, and color management.

Proofreading and Editing (if required):
- Carefully proofread the final layout for errors in grammar, spelling, and formatting.
